Appointments
All appointments should be scheduled in advance by calling 919.620.5333. To schedule an appointment online, log on to the HealthView Portal. If your child is acutely ill, please call us as early in the day as possible so that we may schedule an appointment on the same day if necessary.
Walk-In Policy
Visits are by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling 919.620.5333. To schedule an appointment online, log on to the HealthView Portal.
Cancellations / No Shows
We request twenty-four hours notice on cancellations for all pre-scheduled appointments. If you must cancel a sick visit, please notify our office as soon as possible so that we may see another child at that time. In an effort to avoid significant delays in our office, patients arriving more than fifteen minutes late for a scheduled physical exam or consultation visit must reschedule. Patients who do not show for an appointment more than three times within one year may be asked to find medical care with another practice.
Telephone Calls
Our staff will be available to answer your questions and schedule appointments during regular office hours, Mondays through Fridays from 7:30am to 5:00pm. For routine questions regarding your child’s health, behavior, or medical concerns, please call the Nurse Advice line at 919.620.5333 during regular office hours. If your concern is urgent, please call 919.620.5374.
After Hours Calls
Please restrict after hours calls to urgent matters, if possible. For the after hours triage nurse, please call 888.267.3674 or 919.966.3820. For urgent calls after business hours, on weekends, or on holidays, please call 919.684.8111 and ask the operator to page the primary care pediatrician on call.
Prescription Refills
For prescription refills, please call your pharmacy and ask them to fax a request to the physician’s office. For questions regarding your child’s medication or refills for a controlled substance prescription (such as ADHD medication), please call the Nurse Advice line at 919.620.5333.
Important reminder: Prescriptions require 48 hours to be completed. Also, controlled substance prescriptions must be picked up from the physician’s office—these prescriptions cannot be faxed or called in to the pharmacy.
Forms (School, Camp, Sports)
Patients requiring a form completed by our office for school, camp, sports, pre-school, medication administration forms, or any other form that requires a physician’s signature may be faxed to the provider’s location using the appropriate fax number. Forms will be completed with seven days of receipt. The parent will be notified when the form is ready to be picked up.
Fees and Payment
Full payment, including any co-payment your insurance requires, is expected at the time of service. If you are experiencing financial difficulties and need to make special payment arrangements, our patient account representatives and financial care counselors can assist you with filling out applications for government-sponsored programs and describing monthly payment plans and other financial assistance programs available for those patients who meet certain financial criteria. We are here to help you.
Insurance
Duke participates with most insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid. Prior to your clinic visit, check with your employer or insurance company to see if you have access to health care services at Duke, otherwise you may be responsible for all or a large portion of your bill.
Bring your complete health insurance information when you register. This includes identification, all insurance cards, and authorization forms. We will ask you to sign forms such as a release of information and possibly additional forms, depending on your visit.
If you are a current patient, please inform us if your personal or insurance information has changed since your last visit. The lack of current information can cause payment delays or denials that may ultimately leave you responsible for payment.
