The Duke Pediatric Pain Evaluation Clinic is dedicated to the assessment and management of pain in children. Here, a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals work together to assess each patient's individual needs and concerns. The treatment team is led by a physician and includes a pediatric nurse, physical therapist, social worker and psychologist. Our philosophy is to ease discomfort, maximize function, and promote full participation in daily activities, using a multi-disciplinary approach to pain management. Our recommendations for your child's pain management will be shared with you at the end of your visit. After the evaluation, our team will work closely with the primary care provider to implement our recommendations.
We offer a broad-based approach to assessing and treating chronic pain in children and adolescents. The medical, physical, and psychological components of pain are addressed.
