About Change Bandits

What is a Change Bandit?
Change bandits are volunteers who agree to collect donations from their friends, neighbors, relatives, and/or co-workers. Change bandits can represent companies, departments, individuals, clubs, neighborhood organizations, etc.

What is a Sheriff?
A sheriff is a leader who starts and manages a group of bandits. The sheriff registers the group, distributes the Change Bandits kits and collects the money to turn in the group total. Sheriffs set goals and motivate bandits toward achieving those goals. Sheriffs even get a badge!

What does a Change Bandit do?
Once you have registered to become a change bandit, we will send you a Change Bandits kit that consists of a change bag (to collect the loot), a bandana (so you look the part) and stickers. "Hold up" your friends, co-workers, etc. for their spare change. Dollar bills and checks (made out to Duke Children's Hospital) are also accepted. Then give that person a sticker so everyone knows he/she has helped change a child’s life. We recommend you set your goal to collect at least $100.

How do I register to become a Change Bandit?
You can register on-line - fill in the blanks. The information you give us is totally secure. We do not and never will sell your information to anyone, ever!

Or call Duke Children's at 919-667-2565 and leave your name, address, city and zip code, plus your phone number at work and home, and an email address that we can use to get a hold of you if we need to. We will send you a kit to get you started.
