Student Fundraising

Footloose Fundraising
Duke University students will file into the Intramural Building near Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday, March 27 at 11:00am for the third annual Dance Marathon to benefit Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center. Students volunteer as individuals or relay teams and are challenged to raise money and stay on their feet for 12 hours while dancing, participating in games and activities, and interacting with children and families from the hospital.

In addition, students at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina are organizing the eighth annual 24-hour ELONTHON to raise money and awareness for the patients at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center on April 16-17 in the Alumni Gym on the Elon campus.  Over the past seven years, the ELONTHON has raised over $594,000.

Proceeds from the Duke Dance Marathon and the ELONTHON have facilitated cutting-edge clinical care and a number of special touches that ensure a child friendly environment at Duke Children’s.  The enthusiasm, passion, and dedication of the Duke and Elon students is inspiring for all the faculty and staff who work at Duke Children’s. Beyond working year-round on these events, these committed students also visit the hospital and volunteer at other Duke Children’s fundraising events, such as the Radiothon and Teddy Bear Ball.

Duke Idol
Can’t sing? No problem. The first annual Student Athlete vs. Student Lip Sync/Talent Show on Sunday, April 18 offers the chance to be a star and raise money and awareness for Duke Children’s Hospital. Students volunteer as teams (athletics, professional schools, academic departments, fraternities, sororities) and raise money while singing, lip syncing, and dancing. This new event promises to deliver amazing talent with plenty of surprises along the way.
