Rice Gets First Sherman Surgery Professorship
Henry E. Rice, MD, Chief of the Division of Pediatric General Surgery and Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics, has been named the first recipient of the Paul H. Sherman, MD, Associate Professorship in the Department of Surgery.
In announcing the appointment, Danny O. Jacobs, MD, Chairman of the Department of Surgery, called Rice “a dynamic leader [who] has helped develop the Division of Pediatric General Surgery into one of excellence.”
Rice is listed in America’s Top Surgeons by the Consumers’ Research Council of America, has published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and has authored 11 chapters in books and several other abstracts and manuscripts. His clinical and research interests cover a range of general pediatric surgery with an emphasis on treatment of congenital malformations, pediatric oncology, and thoracic and abdominal surgery.
Rice is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a member of numerous medical societies: the Society of University Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Children’s Oncology Group, the International Cell Transplant Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the International Society of Surgery.
